SCNP - Update on new National Parks process

SCNP have long campaigned for Scotland to add to its current two National Parks. We are closely following the current process to select Scotland’s next park(s).

An announcement is expected in summer 2024 of which area or areas will be taken forward to the statutory reporting phase of the designation process, in the meantime the Scottish Government are evaluating the five nominations received.  Follow the links below for each area bid to find out more about the nominations and the areas they propose…

    SCNP promotes the protection, enhancement and enjoyment of National Parks, potential National Parks and other nationally outstanding areas worthy of special protection.

    As well as our support for Scotland’s existing National Parks, the SCNP is actively campaigning for the creation of new National Parks.
