We are recruiting for Trustees

VACANCY FOR TRUSTEE(S)

The Scottish Campaign for National Parks (SCNP) was formed in 1943 and after a break was re-launched in 1990. We have played a major role in keeping the issue of national parks on the political agenda throughout that time. Now is an exciting time as, thanks in large part to our efforts, one or more new national parks are likely to be designated in the near future.

SCNP works closely with Action to Protect Rural Scotland (APRS) to promote the benefits of having new national parks in Scotland as well as acting as a critical friend to the existing two national park authorities.

SCNP is run by a committed, knowledgeable and friendly group of volunteer trustees with some invaluable but limited professional support funded by APRS and some even more part-time administrative back-up. It is now seeking to appoint one or two new trustees to join this existing active group. There may also be other ways in which anyone interested in supporting our work could help and we would welcome volunteers willing to act in either capacity.

Our trustees meet as an Executive Committee at roughly six week intervals, either in Edinburgh (with an option to join remotely) or online. Occasional conferences and workshops are organised and meetings are held with Scottish Government (both Ministers and officials), NatureScot staff, and with the Chief Executives of the two existing national parks. We also publish occasional research reports.

We welcome applications by email to the address below. Please include a curriculum vitae and information about why you are interested in becoming an SCNP trustee.

We would particularly welcome applications from people with skills in rural planning, biodiversity/climate change, finance/book-keeping and digital marketing. But anyone with an interest and commitment to the national park cause in Scotland is invited to apply.

If you would like to discuss anything with us before making an application, please telephone Nikki Sinclair at APRS on 0131 225 7012, or email info@scnp.org.uk.
